All services and communication before, during, and for sometime after is kept confidential as per the standards of the Mental Health Act, Child and Family Services Act, Regulated Mental Professions Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act; the ethical standards of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists, and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association; just to name a few.
There are certain limitations to confidentiality that cannot be avoided not limited to:
I will discuss the limits of confidentiality and how they may apply to you during the intake session, periodically through the therapeutic relationship, and on your request. If you have any questions regarding these limits please ask right away.
Additionally, for e-counselling services I cannot guarantee the unlimited security of conversations and files sent while video conferencing, emailing, or talking by phone. All electronic files are kept on external hard drives in a locked desk in my home office.

- Possible abuse or neglect of a child or elderly person (Child and Family Services Act)
- Sexual abuse by a Professional (Regulated Health Professions Act)
- Information requested for legal processes (only by subpoena and/or affidavit of therapist's file)
- Information requested by you as the client (I will attempt to talk you out of requesting your file in full)
